doctor110Posters and advertisements of cigarettes are scattered everywhere, while posters and advertisements of warnings saying smoking may cause danger to one's health can also been every corner. Smoking has been one of the most popular vices by people not only in the United States of America but in other countries as well. People smoke to release tension. When they feel a little stressed, they automatically light up their cigarettes. Now, there is even a term called "chain smoking," where people smoke a cigarette one after the other. This is bad because smoking has nicotine, which can contribute to the tendency of lung cancer and tuberculosis. There have been millions of chain smokers who have died because of these ailments yet people still continue the vice.

Smokers are also known be thin. They do not gain too much weight, which makes it more hazardous for their health. One, nicotine is known to be a hunger suppressant. When a smoker lights up a cigarette from time to time, he doesn't feel hungry anymore that's why he doesn't eat too much. Nicotine gets him addicted that's why he craves more for it, forgetting to eat on time and resort to smoking instead.

Smokers are also seen to have lesser body fats compared to those who do not smoke. Actually, there has been a research about the weight loss gene called the alpha2-zinc-glycoprotein1 (AZGP1). The levels of this gene increases as one smokes, making him thinner. It has suspected by the researchers in America that this gene contributes to weight loss of smokers.

This is why people tend to consider smoking as one of their weight loss options. Some of those who have tried weight loss surgery are also smoking because they believe that after weight loss surgery, smoking is the only thing that can sustain their losing of weight. This is bad because smoking after a surgery is bad because the body is still sensitive caused by the procedure.

Actually, one possible explanation to the continuing weight loss that a smoker experiences is the effect of nicotine to the body, especially to the lungs. The lungs are greatly affected, such that just after a few times of smoking, the lungs get discolored, and this is bad for the person. Since nicotine and other chemicals present in cigarettes are toxic, they make the lungs function real slowly. If one is a chain smoker, except his lungs to be paralyzed in such a short time. If you do not want your lungs to be paralyzed, quit smoking now.
